£20,387 per annum (based on 37 hours per week)


Hours available:
37 hours per week, 52 weeks per year
22.5 hours per week, 52 weeks per year

Duties of theWork Placement and Employability Co-Ordinator

  • Support learners to settle in and participate fully in college life.
  • Contribute to the delivery of a centrally preprepared employability curriculum which focuses on supporting learners to develop key employability skills including: critical thinking; teamwork & collaboration; professionalism & a strong work ethic; oral& written skills and leadership skills.
  • Liaise with curriculum teams and Progress Coaches to ensure learners are supported to access the above curriculum at the appropriate stage of their learner journey.
  • Liaise with the business development team to forge effective relationships with local, regional and national employers to secure high quality work placements (including CDF) for all learners.
  • Establish and maintain meaningful links with employers to ensure learners have access to a highquality programme of employability related enrichment sessions and guest speaker opportunities.
  • Effectively prepare learners (both in groups and onetoone) for their work placement and support them to reflect on their experiences and skills developed.
  • Ensure effective Health and Safety planning is in place, including the completion of risk assessments which adhere to Group policies as appropriate.
  • Collaborate with Careers staff to ensure learners have access to appropriate and timely careers education, information, advice and guidance, (including signposting for independent IAG).
  • Contribute to the design and delivery of a high quality, relevant and engaging programme of enrichment activities.
  • Collaborate with cross college teams to plan and facilitate high quality, internal and external learner competitions, ensuring all opportunities include employer partners, are fully inclusive and where appropriate, lead to external representation at competitionssuch as WorldSkills.
  • Encourage learner participation in wider college life including participation in: social action projects; health & wellbeing activities; student voice activities; enrichment activities and work placements.
  • Carry out duties as a First Aider as and when required

Experience Required

  • Previous experience of working with and/or supporting young people to develop their employability skills.
  • Previous experience of creating and/or delivering work readiness programmes to young people.
  • Previous experience of forging effective relationships with employers to secure high quality industry placements for young people.
  • Previous experience of creating and/or delivering enrichment programmes for young people.
  • General education to at least Level 2 in English & Math's.
  • A relevant teaching qualification or a relevant qualification in guidance or counselling is desirable though not essential.
  • A first aid qualification is desirable though not essential.
  • Team worker.
  • Flexible.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work in an organised and methodical manner.
  • Ability to relate positively, confidently and sympathetically with young people from a range of backgrounds, differing abilities and levels of motivation.
  • Knowledge and understanding of pre and post 16 education and training.
  • A commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people.
  • Ability to work with sensitive information and to treat this confidentially in line with the requirements of the Data Protection Act.
