    Description

    Job Purpose

    British Sugar operates highly automated factories processing around 7 million tonnes of UK grown Sugar Beet. Automation development and continuous improvement are key drivers of our business. We are currently seeking a Control Engineer to contribute to the development and upkeep of hardware and software related to the Honeywell DCS platform (Experion & TDC) and Siemens S7 PLC and SCADA systems.

    Core Accountabilities

    • Troubleshooting and fault finding on plant and control systems
    • Installation of new plant or necessary modifications
    • Conducting planned and proactive maintenance activities per DCS system requirements
    • Performing maintenance tasks, testing, and commissioning during maintenance periods to ensure plant readiness
    • Recording all engineering activities in the designated format within the Computer Maintenance Management System (CMMS)
    • Ensuring a complete audit trail of process control adjustments
    • Exhibiting top-tier personal health and safety standards consistently and collaborating effectively with team members for safe and efficient task completion

    Skills, Knowledge & Competencies

    • Completion of IOSH Working Safely
    • In-depth technical expertise acquired through extensive experience in managing large-scale, intricate operational facilities
    • Understanding of hazards and controls in a complex industrial setting focused on food and feed production
    • Extensive background in working within sizeable industrial establishments
    • Proficiency in using Distributed Control Systems
    • Proven history of successful technical issue resolution, fault diagnosis, and continuous enhancement
    • ONC/HNC in relevant Engineering discipline complemented by an accredited apprenticeship or control engineering qualification
    • Demonstrable familiarity with Honeywell Control Systems and/or Siemens control systems
    • High level of credibility and adeptness in communicating effectively across various factory and business operation levels
    • Exhibiting a motivational attitude to bring out the best in others and navigate through challenging situations successfully
    • Dedication to upholding Health & Safety standards for both oneself and colleagues
