Healthcare Cleaning Operative - Theatre Department Hereford County Hospital Permanent, Band - With the Opportunity to Undertake the Level 2 Healthcare Cleaning Operative qualification through the NHS Academy offer.


This is a fantastic opportunity to take your first steps into a career in the NHS as a Healthcare Cleaning Operative within the theatre department at Wye Valley NHS Trust.


We have a number of full time and part time opportunities available to applicants with or without previous health care experience, who are wanting to develop a career in health care.


Our Healthcare Cleaning Operatives are a vital part of the theatre team ensuring that our theatres are cleaned and maintained to the highest standards.

You will work as part of a team and will be trained in all aspects of domestic duties in a very busy clinical environment.

This role will provide you with the opportunity to work as part of a team, with support and guidance.
You will have scope to take responsibility for developing your own skills and demonstrate a commitment to learning.


To work as part of a team to maintain levels of cleanliness in the theatre environment in line with the national standards of cleanliness.


To carry out a wide range of cleaning duties and adhere to infection prevention standards to ensure the environment is clean and tidy.

To ensure the equipment and materials are used and stored safely.

To ensure correct waste disposal procedures.

To minimize hazards in the working area and report any identifiable hazards to the line manager.

To adhere to all safe systems of work applicable to the work area.

To demonstrate effective communication, both orally and in writing, to ensure dissemination of information.

To maintain confidentiality at all times.

Those without previous health care experience will be offered the opportunity to undertake a Level 2 Apprenticeship months). This opportunity will provide valuable work experience and upon completion a recognised Healthcare qualification.
