Communications Consultant

**Location: Fawley, Southampton


Salary:
£47000 per annum


Duration:
Temporary, Ongoing

**You will play a key communications role within a small but busy Public & Government Affairs department for one of the world's leading energy and chemicals companies. The role reports to and supports the External Affairs Manager (UK Manufacturing) deliveringmulti-channel external communications for a nationally significant industrial site in Hampshire.


About your new job role

  • Proactively identify, develop and deliver communications to provide improved insight and understanding of company operations, and its societal and economic contribution to the region and the wider UK
  • Develop social media channels and presence through use of engaging and informative imagery and copy
  • Write compelling copy for deployment across a range of digital and print channels
  • Develop shortlife campaigns to support key issues e.g. recruitment
  • Liaise with media team to identify local opportunities and develop relevant news releases
  • Deputise for External Affairs Manager and act as representative on identified external fora
  • Coordinate development of photographic and video collateral
  • Identify and leverage potential external news hooks
  • Support Community Affairs Adviser to engage with local stakeholder groups
  • Engage with internal teams and monitor external activity to identify potential emerging issues
  • Play a key role in site emergency / out of hours communications response

Skills/experience required

  • Experienced communications and engagement professional (at least 810 years) with proven track record in communications programme delivery
  • Excellent writing skills and experience of story identification and development
  • Ability to analyse and communicate technical information to nontechnical audiences
  • Proven experience of digital communications including web and social media
  • Relevant experience gained ideally in a commercial or industrial sector
  • Good knowledge of local government structures
  • Experience of working with mainstream media proactive and reactive
  • People supervisory experience would be desirable
