    We have an exciting opportunity for a Senior Substance Misuse Nurse at HMP Winchester to join our team. HMP Winchester is a Category B Local remand prison located in Central Winchester accommodating approximately 670 male prisoners.

    Although the site is close to Winchester city centre there is onsite (free) parking for all staff and it is a short walk from Winchester train station.

    Due to HMP Winchester holding remand prisoners and to support the daily regime, we do require staff to work on rota basis and you can be asked to work nights, bank holidays and weekends although if youre looking for flexibility we can discuss this at interview

    This position is full time hours a week and youll receive an annual salary up to 49,770 per annum FTE - depending on experience.

    Golden Hello - 3,000 (1,000 in 6 months of service, 1,000 after 12 months and 1,000 after 24 months of service - conditions apply).

    Main duties of the job

    As a Substance Misuse Nurse you will

  • Work as part of a multi-disciplinary team, prioritising patient care to develop individualised packages of care through comprehensive assessment and recovery planning.
  • You will deliver a range of treatment options including clinical and psychosocial interventions in both a group and 1-1 setting with recovery at the centre of our healthcare wellbeing model.
  • You must be able to carry out comprehensive assessments, initiate and review individual recovery plans and confidently communicate the full range of treatment options available to service users.
  • You will monitor therapeutic responses to medication and potential side effects and liaise with prescribers.

  • You will be a qualified Registered Nurse (Mental Health) with a real passion for developing your clinical skills in an environment that is ever changing. You'll also have a RCGP 1 in Substance Misuse or willingness to undertake this to support you in your development. Experience of working with opiate dependant patients is advantageous for this role, as well as sound clinical substance misuse knowledge.

    Although not essential ideal applicants would have experience in a hospital, community or prison environment.
