We are currently recruiting for a Marine Underwriter to join our established and experienced Underwriting team here at RSA Birmingham, on a hybrid basis.
Your Role
You will work with other Underwriters across both Marine Cargo and Freight Liability within the Regional Marine business.
You will secure profitable renewals in line with agreed area/segment strategies and underwriting the associated cases within agreed processes and risk appetite.
You will spend the majority of your time working with your brokers identifying, discussing, negotiating and converting new and existing business opportunities and making effective underwriting decisions.
You will use your strong analytical, relationship management and communication skills to support the underwriting of a portfolio of accounts.
About You
Previous experience of working in the insurance industry or other regulated industries would be beneficial but if you don't have previous Insurance experience you must be able to demonstrate your passion for delivering world class customer service.

Customer Service Representative
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
- Excellent phone skills and a willingness to learning new systems
- Maintain open, friendly, and professional communication with customers, team members, and management
- Handle customer complaints in a timely manner and in accordance with company policies
- Respond to customer inquiries regarding the reason for calling in the request for service for which they have made a call or submitted a completed return
- Assist in scheduling appointments for customers who need them
- Assist in maintaining inventory of parts and supplies
- Maintain a high level of service by always treating customers like family
- Perform other duties as assigned
Required Skills:
- High School Diploma or GED required; Associates degree preferred
- Customer service experience preferred but not required, will train the right person
