GE Vernova's Power Conversion business provides electrification systems that are critical to customers' power and energy needs for their high-performance applications.

We work with some of the world's major energy, maritime and industrial organizations, helping to enable a transition to energy efficiency and decarbonization, including through our specialist motors, drives and control technologies.

Job Description

Join our dev team in Rugby and utilize your software skills to develop cutting edge solutions that are used in GE Power Conversion's VISOR" range of Remote monitoring, Engineering and HMI Operator Interface products and systems.

In this role you will focus on:
Writing backend software for GE Vernova VISOR product range utilizing modern frameworks (ASP.Net Core and NodeJS).

Working in sprints of small, self-motivated teams using agile methods, collaborating with Product Leadership to determine customer needs and transforming those customer needs into next generation control and communication products that are cloud connected.

Being involved in all phases of software development from requirements definition, implementation, quality control and testing to product deployment.

Writing technical documentation including user manuals, software design and test specifications.

Working closely with other teams within the company and adhering to industry standards to ensure products meet required specifications.

Attending meetings with internal customers for the purpose of capturing requirements, creating mock-ups and prototypes, feasibility studies and technical advisory.

We are looking for a committed and professional individual with:

A relevant degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering or related technical field of study, OR significant relevant experience gained in a professional engineering environment.

Practical experience of software development using object-oriented software design.
Ability to develop backend applications/microservices using Web technologies and a modern framework such as NodeJS/ASP.Net Core
Familiarity with modern commercial software development paradigms (microservices, testing in isolation, integration).
Good written and verbal communication skills.
Unrestricted Right to Work in the United Kingdom.
What will make you stand out:
DevOps experience building pipelines using GitHub actions or similar (CI/CD).
Experience of RAD / TDD / Agile development processes.
Experience with computer networks, Ethernet, LANs, TCP/IP and other protocols.
Understanding of cyber security and its relevance to the software development life cycle.
Ability to create structured documentation suitable for Customer use.
Knowledge of our industry, products and platforms.
