An exciting secondment opportunity has arisen for an Acting Depute Head Teacher to join our Senior Leadership Team of Head Teacher, 4 Depute Head Teachers (One based at Meadowpark Communication Provision) and a Business Manager. The school currently has a three house system, with each Depute assigned overall responsibility for one house group.
The successful candidate will be enthusiastic, energetic and able to provide leadership in all aspects of school life. You will, in the first instance, be a leading professional with a proven track record of innovative teaching practice, high quality curriculum development and be committed to providing education of the highest quality. You will assist in the overall management of the school within the context of the leadership team.
Knox Academy is a truly comprehensive school situated in Haddington, East Lothian, Scotland. The roll is 880 pupils. Our curriculum provides a full range of subjects from S1-S6. We aim to meet the needs of all our pupils, providing a curriculum that is appropriate in terms of breadth, depth and challenge. Our broad general education (BGE) incorporates pace, challenge, personalisation and choice, and this allows pupils to be ready to meet the demands of our senior phase curriculum, which has subjects ranging from National 2 level through to Advanced Higher. We also link with other East Lothian schools to provide opportunities for study across a wide range of other subjects and specialist academies.

Job Details
The role of a Depute Head Teacher is to assist and, where necessary, to deputise for the Head Teacher as required. The role of the Head Teacher is, within the resources available, to conduct the affairs of the school to the benefit of the pupils and the community it serves, through pursuing objectives and implementing policies set by East Lothian Council under the overall direction of the Head of Education.

Full GTCS Registration is required.

Please Note - Pay arrangements for those starting after 1st day of school session
In accordance with Teachers Conditions of Service (SNCT - Appendix 2.19), Teachers who commence employment with East Lothian Council after the first day of the school session will have their salary for the remainder of the school salary year (which runs from 1 August to 31 July each year), ; recalculated to reflect how teachers accrue leave and pay.
In these circumstances, a calculation will be carried out upon commencement of employment and leave and pay will be adjusted. Further information will be provided to the successful candidate should this be applicable.
