This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced scientist to join UCL as a Postdoctoral Research Fellow, working in the Laboratory for Molecular Cell Biology (LMCB), a research-intensive Division in the Faculty of Life Sciences, located at the heart of UCL's Bloomsbury campus.

UCL is ranked No. 9 in the World for Life Sciences and Medicine (QS Rankings The Faculty of Life Sciences is one of the largest in UCL with over 900 staff and 3,500 students and a diverse portfolio of research and teaching.

The LMCB has an international reputation for research excellence in cell and tissue biology and innovative education programmes.

The LMCB provides a highly collaborative and interdisciplinary research environment, housed in a single building, where staff and students work together to understand the fundamental principles of cell and tissue biology relevant to human disease.


About the role:

The Delas Lab, funded by Wellcome, aims to understand the cis-regulatory mechanisms controlling developmental cell fate choice.

To deliver this role effectively you will need a combination of excellent understanding of molecular and cell biology with a special focus on developmental and stem cell biology as well the ability to establish effective and collaborative relationships.


Role specific details:

  • This role is available for the period of two years in the first instance.
  • Appointment will be made at Grade 6B salary £37,332 to £39,980 per annum, inclusive of London Allowance
  • This role does not meet the eligibility requirements for a Skilled Worker Visa certificate of sponsorship under UK Visas and Immigration legislation. Therefore UCL will not be able to sponsor individuals who require right to work in the UK to carry out this role.

About you:

- a Masters degree in a relevant biomedical discipline, or equivalent research experience
- a good knowledge of developmental biology or stem cell models of differentiation
- an extensive knowledge of research techniques and methodologies related to gene expression and epigenetic analysis at the genome-wide level
- an experience in data analysis (e.g. bioinformatics, image analysis)
- a good research track, working collaborative collaborations, and being involved in the community
- an experience of leading and managing a research project
- an ability to demonstrate a deep knowledge of own research background and to effectively communicate research achievements to a specialist and to a lay audience
- and willingness to contribute to a supportive and collaborative environment among team members and to advocate for and promote an endeavor of equality, diversity, and inclusion among colleagues and other LMCB members.
