We are working with a Newcastle based tax specialist consultancy who are looking to appoint a Tax & Trusts Senior to manage and develop an existing portfolio of discretionary trusts.

Working with clients direct you will be responsible for ensuring all related compliance and legislative requirements are adhered to.

Whilst this role would suit an individual with a working knowledge of various types of trusts and trust structures, we are aware how niche this area is and are opening the opportunity up to those with a minimum of 2 years personal tax return experience.

Some exposure or awareness of trusts through tax exams would be beneficial but an interest in enhancing your trusts knowledge would be enough for my client to teach you the rest.

On a day to day basis you would be responsible for the management of a portfolio of trusts and, where applicable, assisting with related planning aspects and opportunities.

This would include completion of trust accounts and related tax returns, annual compliance meetings, ensuring TRS / CRS / FATCA requirements are met, preparation of trustee documents including resolutions / deeds of appointment / documents giving rise to changes of trustees and closures of trusts / investment policy statements.

Applicants must have strong communication skills as you will be working with many relevant third party professionals such as accountants and solicitors to assist on client matters.

You will also find yourself liaising with beneficiaries of trusts and communicating with directors and fee earners about relevant trusts.

At times you will need to work with property managers, investment managers and financial advisors concerning trust investments.

With the support of an experienced team around you your knowledge in trusts will grow and you will be involved in helping to advise on related Inheritance Tax and Capital Gains Tax matters along with planning reviews for clients focussing on asset protection.

We would like the successful applicant to either hold or be working towards a professional tax qualification such as ATT/CTA for which full study support would be provided.

A qualified Solicitor or Paralegal who has specialised in Trusts would also be of interest

Applicants must be self-motivated and possess the confidence to work independently with excellent writing skills and a high attention to detail.

Working in a customer service focused environment you will need the ability to multi-task and be comfortable with IT systems.

The Consultancy offer hybrid working giving you the flexibiity to spend some of your time in the office and at home.
