    St Margaret's Hospice Care has a fantastic opportunity for a Registered Nurse to join our team. This role is based in Taunton. You will join us on a full time, permanent basis and in return, you will receive a competitive salary of £32,413 per annum.

    Main duties of the job

    Based within our patient focused IPU team, you will play a key role by delivering nursing care that is patient-centred and holistic. This is a role where you will really be given the time and space to get to know the people you support .

    Our service operates 24/7 and shift patterns include weekends and bank holidays and rotation onto night duty. We offer flexibility in shift patterns plus the opportunity to gain experience in other areas of hospice care, including community.

    From day 1,you will be fully supported in post with a robust and in-depth Induction, peer support and shared learning, and our new Clinical Skills Program. We have a fantastic education team and all our CPD is delivered onsite at the hospice. With a wide range of courses, learning opportunities, and personalised development pathways, we'll support you to grow and succeed in your role, helping you to achieve your career aspirations.

    We also offer Preceptorship Support Programmes to newly qualified nurses and are committed to supporting all staff in their career journey with us through personal development and rotational opportunities. Previous hospice or palliative care experience is not required as full training and support will be provided.

    Job description

    Job responsibilities

  • Providenursing care that is at all times patient-centred, holistic and quality driven,ensuring optimum quality of life for all patients in the inpatient unit.
  • Provide appropriate support andadvice for families and carers working effectively alongside themultidisciplinary team across all clinical settings.
  • Within your area assist in thecoordination of the nursing team regarding all aspects of clinical andoperational activity.
  • Assist in managing, operating andsupporting a 24/7 response by providing appropriate clinical and non-clinicaladvice and support within the boundaries of the service, for patients withcancer and non-cancer palliative care needs.
  • Educate colleagues and influencepractice by talking to other health care professionals and participating ineducation programmes and research.

    Qualifications

    Essential

  • RN 1/2 or equivalent
  • Desirable

  • Diploma or Degree in palliative care or related field
  • Post registration qualification relevant to field of practice
