An exciting opportunity has arisen for a highly motivated and enthusiastic person to join the integrated/ secondary care asthma service in Leicester.

The successful applicant will support the LLR asthma virtual ward programme and the integrated/secondary care asthma service at Glenfield Hospital.


The NHS is embracing new models of care, such as virtual wards, to support patients and improve efficiencies within the system.

The development of virtual wards presents an opportunity to create new ways of working and enhance health and social care integrated multidisciplinary team working.


We have an exciting opportunity for a part-time (0.8 WTE) enthusiastic, motivated and experienced administrator to join our adult asthma team.

This brand new post will primarily be to support the new virtual ward for adult patients with asthma, whilst also supporting respiratory
integrated/secondary asthma services.


The role entails monitoring and tracking patients referred to the LLR asthma virtual ward to include: collecting, maintaining and submitting the data required for the asthma MDT and asthma virtual ward and monitoring the dataset.

The role will also entail facilitating the integrated asthma MDT meetings.

It is required that the post holder will provide administration support to the clinic co-ordinator team and will be a pivotal point of contact and support to the general asthma nurses.


The post holder will need to demonstrate excellent organizational and communication skills and the ability to work both independently and within the multi-disciplinary team.

  • To coordinate, supervise and maintain robust data collection and validation mechanisms
  • To be responsible or the efficient collection and data entry onto the database for the asthma MDT and the key performance indicators of the asthma virtual ward
  • To locate all missing data and ensure accuracy when inputting to the database, working with the Asthma nurses and wider MDT team
  • To analyse and report data as required, obtaining data from a variety of sources
  • To be responsible for the provision of timely and accurate information to other staff To ensure the production of reports and analysis when required
  • Where appropriate, to liaise with other departments
  • To provide administrative facilitation of team meetings including preparing, organising and circulating agendas, minutes of the previous meetings and recording the outcome of MDT meetings.
  • To ensure that colleagues are able to join the meetings via electronic conferencing as required
  • To collate all relevant documentation for team meetings, to include patient notes, investigation results and clinic letters
  • To take minutes and record attendance at team meetings accurately and to circulate appropriately
  • To provide general administrative duties to the multidisciplinary team to include typing letters, photocopying, filing, basic clerical duties and distributing documents quickly and efficiently
  • To provide clinic coordination support to the general asthma team, maintaining clinics on HISS, managing outcomes and future appointments
  • To provide support to the general asthma nursing team with general administrative duties and to be the point of contact and support
