The business writes multiple lines including Financial Lines, Marine, Property, Casualty, Aviation, Energy & Construction, and A&H.


Role Purpose:
Based in London the role leads the UK&I Claims organization across all Lines of Business.

The primary purpose of this role is to support the development and execution of the business strategy through the creation and delivery of Claims solutions, capabilities, and services.


Key Accountabilities:
Strategic

  • Leadership of Claims within UK&I
  • Provision of claims management services within UK&I.
  • Develop and execute strategies to ensure that the UK&I Claims function meets business targets and plans
  • Contribute to the development of Global Claims Strategy
  • Personal oversight and handling of large and complex losses and systemic claims issues
  • Partner with Regional and Product leadership to ensure effective communication and integration of Claims capabilities and insights to drive business plans and outcomes
  • Lead, build and manage Claims teams which will enhance the delivery of strategic goals
  • Market facing role, promoting Everest brand and capabilities within UK&I
  • Business development and execution of yearly business planning
  • Provide services and Claims solutions to support client's most complex risks and challenges
  • Broker and customer relationship management for UK&I to support the retention and acquisition of business
Operational

  • Provide management and oversight of UK&I Claims working closely with the Global Head of Claims and central Claims support functions
  • Ensure that team performance meets or exceeds corporate standards and customer needs
  • Ensure the capture, creation and analysis of data to ensure that claims performance and trends are understood and effectively communicated to all stakeholders
  • Effective management of expenses to ensure that Everest maintains its competitive advantage
  • Provision of an annual Claims budget and forecast
  • Monitor, report, and analyse Claims performance against plan / budget / forecast
  • Ensure an audit strategy is in place and executed for service providers
  • Carry out Claim Quality Assurance processes as necessary to ensure policies and procedures are being followed
  • Ensure all claims handlers are operating within their authorities
  • Ensure compliance with policies, procedures and controls that are in place to meet all regulatory and corporate governance requirements, whether internal or external
People

  • Build and develop a team which can deliver strategic goals outlined either above or by executive management
  • Align, empower, and influence others through ideas, encouragement, and insight
  • Goal setting, performance evaluation and management of direct reports
  • Evaluation of training needs
  • Remuneration recommendations
  • Keep leadership and the HR department apprised of any HR issues that arise, including any disciplinary actions that may be necessary
Skills & Abilities

  • A highly credible Claims leader within the London Market
  • Knowledge of building and executing strategic plans to develop a Claims organization
  • Extensive knowledge and experience in managing claims portfolios across multiple lines of business
  • Exceptional oral and written communication, with the ability to provide concise executive summaries to senior management
  • Highly collaborative and able to work effectively across the organisation as well as with external stakeholders
  • Ability to adapt and embrace change, solutions driven
  • Tenacity and decisiveness, with the courage to take risks
  • Strong interpersonal skills and demonstrates respect for the opinions of others

Professional qualifications and experience:

  • A degree educated professional, preferably with Insurance or other qualifications relevant to the role. UK legal qualification an advantage.
  • Demonstrable experience in commercial and specialty claims of multiple classes and geographies within the London Market
  • Demonstrable experience in progressive Claim solutions in the London Market and UK&I retail marketplaces
  • Extensive knowledge and experience in managing and building Claims teams and competencies across multiple product lines
