    Teacher of RE

    Contract: Full time – (Maternity – 1 year fixed)

    Salary: Pay Band M1 – M6/ UPS (£30,000 – £45,525)

    Closing date: 7th May 2024 – 9am

    Interview date: 10th May 2024

    Our Lady of the Magnificat MAC are looking to recruit a Teacher of RE to start in September 2024. This role will be based at St Bede's Catholic Middle School, Holloway Lane, Redditch WORCS. B98 7HA

    TEACHER OF RE PERSON SPECIFICATION

    QUALIFICATIONS:

    • Qualified teacher status
    • Degree in relevant subject

    TEACHING EXPERIENCE:

    • Ability to teach both KS2 and KS3
    • Be an efficient leader
    • Statutory requirements for teaching of the subject
    • Excellent class management and teaching skills

    SKILLS, QUALITIES AND ABILITIES:

    • Ability to teach at a 'good' or 'outstanding' level
    • Have high expectations of students learning and attainment
    • Have high expectations of students in term of behaviour
    • Have the ability to motivate students
    • Have a strong commitment to school improvement and raising achievement for all

    Job Description – TEACHER OF RE

    Main Duties

    The purpose of the Teacher of RE role is to work with the Headteacher and Academy Representative Body by:

    • To carry out the duties of a teacher as set out in the current Teachers' Standards Document
    • Implementing and delivering an appropriately broad, balanced, relevant and differentiated curriculum for students in your designated curriculum area
    • Monitoring and supporting the overall progress and development of students as a teacher/form tutor
    • Facilitating and encouraging learning experiences which provide students with the opportunity to achieve their individual potential
    • Contributing to raising standards and student attainment in your curriculum area
    • Sharing and supporting in the school's mission to achieve personal and academic excellence for students
    • Supporting the catholic ethos of the school

    The general duties and responsibilities of the role are:

    • To carry out the statutory tasks as laid down in the current School Teachers' Pay and Conditions of Service Document in the light of the procedures and guidelines adopted by the governing body.
    • To meet the teachers' standards
    • To contribute to the Catholic life of the school community, rooted in the Eucharistic community it serves.

    Classroom Practice

    • To be responsible for the day-to-day management and teaching of his/her classes
    • Ensure the highest possible quality learning environment in the classroom which reflects the Catholic nature of the school as laid out in the school's Mission statement.
    • Ensure that all teaching and learning is conducted in an atmosphere of affirmation, encouragement, realistic challenge and sensitive reflection.
    • Affirm and encourage parents in their role as the first educators of their children and ensure effective communication with parents is maintained.
    • Access and record each pupil's progress systematically in line with current school procedures and use the results to inform planning
    • Mark and monitor class work and homework, providing constructive feedback and set targets for further progress.
    • Periodically, positively evaluate your own teaching to consolidate strengths and improve effectiveness when appropriate
    • To be responsible for the specific areas of the school in relation to health and safety issues and report any concerns to the Principal.

    • Establish and maintain effective working relationships with professional colleagues, acknowledging the need for mutual support
    • Participate as required in meetings with professional colleagues and parents in respect of the duties and responsibilities of your post
    • Take responsibility for your own professional development and on-going formation
    • Endeavor to retain a healthy balance in your professional and personal life
    • Have a secure knowledge and understanding of the subjects taught
    • Be familiar with all school policies including child protection procedures, health and safety policies and current SEN codes of practice

    Other

    • To maintain personal and professional development to meet the changing demands of the post, participating in appropriate training activities.
    • To support at all times the Catholic ethos of the school/Multi Academy Company by promoting the agreed vision and aims and setting an example of personal integrity and professionalism.
    • To adhere to the Schools' policies
    • Other duties as may be determined from time to time within the general scope of the post. Duties and responsibilities outside of the post will only be required with the agreement of the post holder.
