    The Norwich BioscienceInstitutes Partnership (NBIP) has an exciting opportunity for aElectrical Engineer to join their busy Facilitiesdepartment.

    Background:

    TheNorwich Bioscience Institutes are a cluster of internationallyrenowned research organisations, working to tackle major challengesof the 21st Century – the sustainability of our environment, ourfood supplies and healthy ageing. The NBI Partnership provides highquality, non-scientific support services for the diverse communityof staff, students and visiting workers at the Institutes (theEarlham Institute, John Innes Centre, The Sainsbury Laboratory andQuadram Institute Bioscience) and for the NBI Partnership. Based onthe Norwich Research Park amongst 230 hectares of parkland, youwill be joining a committed, professional and welcoming team.     The Facilities Department provides afully comprehensive Facilities Management Service to the John InnesCentre, the Sainsbury Laboratory and the Earlham Institute. Ourprime objective is to deliver safe, high quality scientificenvironments, which support scientists involved with world classresearch.

    Therole:

    The main purpose of the rolewill be to carry out maintenance, investigate and rectify defects,modify and install electrical building services in laboratorybuildings, glasshouses, Controlled Environment Rooms (CERs) andsupport areas. The post-holder will work as part of a team toprovide technical support and assistance. They will also assistwith the development and implementation of Planned PreventativeMaintenance.

    The idealcandidate:

    The ideal candidatewill have completed a recognised apprenticeship in Electricalservices (JIB Approved) or equivalent or possess equivalentexperience and training. They will have previous experience ofworking as part of a maintenance team, as well as experience in theinstallation, repair and maintenance of electrical equipment in aproduction environment. A good working knowledge of legislativerequirements relating to mechanical services is essential. Previousexperience of working in a scientific environment would beadvantageous.

    Additionalinformation:

    Salary on appointmentwill be within the range £27,750 to £30,000 per annum depending onqualifications and experience. You may also be required toparticipate in an on-call rota at which point you would be eligibleto receive an additional 10% on-call allowance. This is a full-timepost offered on an indefinite basis.
