- Implement sustainability goals, policies, and strategies aligned with my clients values.
- Own the company's Carbon Reduction Plan.
- Drive our Scope 1, 2, and 3 agenda.
- Conduct assessments to identify areas where sustainable practices can be integrated.
- Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders, including employees, suppliers, customers, and community groups, to build relationships and gather input on sustainability initiatives.
- Stay informed about relevant environmental regulations and ensure we comply with them.
- Gather data on our environmental impact, energy consumption, waste generation, and other relevant metrics.
- Analyse sustainability performance and use the data to identify areas for improvement.
- Evaluate and monitor the environmental and social impact of the supply chain i.e. embodied carbon and contract-specific Scope 3.
- Coordinate pollution control, waste management, recycling, environmental health, conservation, and renewable energy initiatives.
- Prepare sustainability reports for internal and external stakeholders.
- Engage with local communities and participate in community-based sustainability projects.
- Assess the financial implications of sustainability initiatives, including cost savings and return on investment.
- Utilise a Carbon Monitoring Tool and educate operational teams in their usage and development.
- Drive positive change in our business practices to minimise our environmental footprint and maximise sustainability efforts. Skills & Experience
- Genuine passion for the environment and sustainability and belief in the difference a company can make.
- Demonstrable experience managing an environmental function or similar relevant field.
- Ability to promote environmental awareness and influence internal and external stakeholders.
- Strong attention to detail for compiling accurate statistics and writing factual environmental reports.
- Commercial awareness and understanding of commercial responsibilities.
- Ability to set sustainability targets, develop plans, and oversee their delivery through effective project management.
- Formal Qualifications such as Degree/ Diploma in environmental management or similar advantageous and/or Membership of IEMA or CIWEM beneficial. This is not essential - we are after an experienced individual.
- Extensive knowledge of ISO14001.
- Full UK driving license required; occasional overnight stays may be necessary
