- Identify and determine optimum sources of supply in terms of quality, cost and lead time.
- Compare costs and evaluate the quality and suitability of suppliers, materials and equipment. Select and develop appropriate vendors, using your technical knowledge.
- Observe vendor performance and recommend necessary actions to improve performance, conduct audits and supplier visits when required.
- Experienced in using Material Requirements Planning system and to ensure it contains accurate information at all times.
- Support the sales, project management and production team to provide timeous feedback on various orders and projects.
- Provide support with the production control supervisor in ensuring on time delivery to customer due dates.
- Assist with managing the daily production workload through the workshop and covering for the production control supervisor as required.
- Background in Engineering / Manufacturing buying experience.
- ERP/MRP experience with M1 or D365 (or similar) will be beneficial.
- Excellent communication (both verbal and written) with the ability to make decisions and meet targets.
- Methodical and detailed work ethic.
- To be willing to travel to other group companies and suppliers as and when required.
