    Job summary

    An exciting opportunity has arisen in the Kidderminster/Bromsgrove/Tenburyarea for an experienced Podiatrist to join our friendly team.

    This role would be a permanent position. It will involve work across 3 main clinicalsites as well as out in the community, for example in patients homes, carehomes and local hospitals.

    Our team regularly support student placementsfrom local universities and our trust also run Podiatry apprenticeships, socandidates will therefore also be involved in supporting these students.

    We are looking for an experienced Podiatrist with theability to demonstrate a high level of expertise and knowledge in at least oneof the following areas: Managing the at-risk foot, Nail surgery and Clinicaleducation. Experience in managing the high-risk foot with a special interest inwound care is particularly beneficial.

    The ideal candidate will be a true team player, committed toproviding high quality patient care with the ability to work both independentlyand as part of a team. The candidate should be enthusiastic and highlymotivated and having a strong work ethic is most desirable.

    The post is for 3 days per week. Days worked can bediscussed at interview but all team members should work Tuesdays tofacilitate team meetings, clinical supervision, and training.

    Main duties of the job

    The role will involve provision of expert specialistassessment, treatment and advice for patients who may have acute, complex and/orchronic foot and ankle disease. As such, candidates must be confident in theassessment, diagnosis and treatment of the lower limb, with a sound knowledgeof disease processes relating to the foot and lower limb of all types ofpatient groups. The ability to network, liaise and build relationships withother health care professionals would be highly advantageous.

    The role will require:

    Triage of referrals appropriately

    Provide education to patients

    Mentor students and apprentices as required

    Perform nail surgery

    Provide offloading and orthotic devices whereappropriate

    Job description

    Job responsibilities

    The role will primarily involve management ofthe At-risk foot, nail surgery and domiciliary work. There are alsoopportunities to support Musculoskeletal Podiatry clinics if the successfulcandidate has interest in this area.

    Knowledge and competence in nail surgery is also a requirement for therole as the successful candidate will have the opportunity to take part in avariety ofclinical roles including nail surgery on a rotabasis. There are opportunities for shadowing and working with theMultidisciplinary Diabetic Foot Team and the Musculoskeletal Podiatrists tofurther advance skills and knowledge base.

  • Evidence of relevant Post Graduate experience and training within specialist areas in Podiatry such as management of the high risk foot, the Diabetic Foot at risk and Biomechanical/ Musculoskeletal Assessment Diagnosis and Management

  • Management of serious pathology including diabetes, peripheral vascular disease, renal and rheumatological conditions. To include the skilled use of equipment for specialist vascular and neurological assessment and an up-to-date knowledge of wound care
