Principal Purpose


The MRP Production Planner will be responsible for planning and scheduling all customers' orders within designated time constraints, utilising the factory's production capabilities in order to achieve specified company targets.


The MRP Production Planner will make recommendations to improve quality and efficiency of the production planning process, working cross-functionally with the purchasing and production teams.


Initially the role will focus on existing processes and systems; however, it will require a significant input into the ongoing development of the ERP and production planning systems.


As a team member, the role is expected to positively engage, constructively contribute, and support the successful conclusion of lean sigma projects.


The role has responsibility for creating and maintaining part data for finished goods, bills of materials, bills of operations, Operation sequence and processes in the manufacture or fabrication of Worktops, components, sub-assemblies and final assemblies.

Principal Elements


Although not exhaustive of production planning activity, the role will primarily manage the planning and scheduling of customers' orders for production, whilst ensuring acceptable levels of internal stakeholder communication and external customer service is maintained.


  • Production planning support to manufacturing/operations teams
  • Master Production Schedule management/maintenance
  • Develop production schedules/scheduling systems, working with operations/manufacturing
  • Capacity planning & management to balance workload to meet customer demands
  • Develop/maintain measures of performance against key performance indicators
  • Champion supply chain improvement activity & promote materials management best practice (focusing on implementing lean manufacturing principles)
  • Support new product introduction projects
  • Interrogate and monitor manufacturing status
  • Work with Managers/Supervisors to maintain and report manufacturing performance statistics which should include efficiencies, output and ontime delivery
  • Ensure that all relevant ISO9001quality procedures are maintained and adhered to
  • To plan all incoming orders, acknowledging production deliveries to Sales/Customer Service and ensuring Customers delivery requirements are achieved
  • To progress any production problems through daily production meeting
  • To check materials availability, liaising with Purchasing to ensure production plans can be achieved
  • To ensure weekly production plans are achievable and issued on time
  • To liaise with Production, prioritising plans as when appropriate to check and maintain physical stocks against computer figures and investigating discrepancies
  • To process and progress schedules as requested by sales/customer service
  • Responsible for creating all new Bills of Materials (BOMs) and Bills of Operations (BOOs) as well as updating and maintaining existing in the company ERP system Epicor
  • Responsible for the accuracy of all BOMs and BOOs
  • Become proficient in using the BOMs and BOOs maintenance screens and reports
  • Coordinate with Sales/Marketing, Purchasing and Planning on new products to ensure that the BOMs and BOOs are defined and entered in a timely manner to ensure a swift and seamless introduction to market
  • Coordinate with Sales/Marketing, Purchasing and Planning to ensure that samples to support new product introduction and new range introduction are defined and support with process to successfully deliver to the customer
  • Work with Production, Purchasing and Planning to ensure that the BOM has the correct structure as well as accurate components and quantities with the appropriate units of measures assigned for precise transaction and stock control
  • To carry out planning related tasks as required the by Supply Chain Manager
  • Promoting the desired business culture, business ethics and business initiatives
  • Adhere to company rules and regulations
  • Other duties as assigned by your Manager
Job Context/ Key Challenges

  • This is an important role, responsible in ensuring schedules are accurately maintained in a busy adaptive environment. Liaising between the production team and management to ensure that any problems are solved efficiently
  • The position requires the organisation of scheduling systems and paperwork relating to machining operations
  • The job is an essential part of data management and accuracy (of the Epicor System), which supports all key areas in the business.
  • The role requires strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • A key challenge is to assist in the improvements of the ERP System, including documenting new processes and procedures where applicable

Knowledge and Experience Key attributes:

Essential:


  • Minimum three years of experience in an engineering or manufacturing discipline
  • Experience of working with MRP/ERP systems
  • Demonstrated proficiency with MS Office Suite, specifically Excel. It would be advantageous to be able
