Senior Commissioning Officer - Devon, United Kingdom - Devon County Council
![Devon County Council background](https://contents.bebee.com/companies/gb/devon-county-council/background-HJWEc.png)
Description
We aim for Devon to be the ultimate place to grow, thrive, and succeed. We strive to be attentive, receptive, innovative, and inclusive. Our vision for Devon is one of ambition and a dedication to revolutionize our leadership and work methods to enhance outcomes for the people of Devon.
Our goal is to ensure individuals can reside in a place they cherish, with their loved ones and possessions, in communities that support each other, engaging in activities that hold significance for them.
The Adult Social Care division at Devon County Council oversees the management of £300million in care services through contracts with approximately 1,200 external providers from the private, independent, and voluntary sectors. Anticipated future demographic shifts and budget constraints present ongoing challenges that demand innovative strategies and solutions.
The Senior Commissioning Officer will be tasked with:
In this capacity, the role will empower Devon County Council (and partners) to make informed decisions regarding social care (in conjunction with health and housing) to achieve excellence, safety, efficiency, value, and transformation. This is particularly crucial given the challenging financial landscape. Decisions must align with national and local directives and be informed by specific local requirements.
The ideal candidate will possess a deep understanding of commissioning and contracting processes, as well as a solid grasp of business models within the independent sector.
When necessary, the role will collaborate closely with and advise Elected Members while engaging providers, service users, and caregivers.
This position plays an integral role in the Integrated Adult Social Care Leadership Team and interfaces with key strategic partners including NHS entities, independent sector providers, and voluntary organizations.
The Council values a diverse workforce and is dedicated to fostering an inclusive and secure environment. Applications from individuals who share our commitment to combat discrimination, challenge inequality, and promote diversity across Devon are welcomed.
