    Job summary

    Junior Training Fellow in StrokeFixed Term - 1 Year

    A new and exciting opportunity has arisen at the University Hospital of North Midlands to join the team of Neurologist working on both our Royal Stoke and County sites.

    The successful candidate will compliment the expertise already available within the speciality and have a particular interest in Stroke with your training supported by a dedicated team of Stroke Physicians.

    Main duties of the job

  • To participate in the provision of care to patients admitted to the Neurosciences Wards.
  • To assist in ward management including electronic discharges.
  • To participate in the management of day to day care of Neurosciences patients
  • To assist in the undertaking of full clinical computerised audit within the department. This would be encouraged for desirable candidates.
  • To provide on-call cover for emergencies

    Person Specification

    Qualifications

    Essential

  • Eligible for full GMC Registration via the PLAB test or MTI route (AoMRC) or completed all parts (1, 2 & PACES) of the Federation of Royal College of Physicians MRCP (UK) examinations with IELTS (UKVI Academic) requirements of GMC if relevant and EPIC verification of qualifications for international doctors depending on primary medical qualifications.
  • MBBS or equivalent
  • Desirable

  • Academic and extracurricular achievements ALS certification
  • Awards/distinctions whilst studying for 1st degree
  • Clinical Experience

    Essential

  • Foundation competencies or equivalent for those with full GMC registration
  • Desirable

  • Presented evidence of experience to date supported by references
  • Attainment of the UK Foundation Programme or an equivalent level of experience.
  • Skills

    Essential

  • Proven ability to work as a member of a team is prudent and the ability to organise and prioritise busy workloads effectively and cope under pressure is crucial
  • Ability to communicate effectively with patients, senior medical staff and other health professionals is vital
  • Proficient and efficient handling of medical problems with evidence of safe sound practical procedures
