  • Job description

  • We are seeking an enthusiastic Senior Advisor specialising in asset management. You'll work closely with our fantastic teams who manage a variety of assets from flood defence embankments to large and complex sluice gates and pumping stations. The effective management of these assets are fundamental in our ability to reduce flood risk to people and property.
You'll work in a high-freedom environment which focuses on health, safety and wellbeing and supports your own development. You'll bring a passion to the role and in return be supported by great people in the Area.

Responsibilities include:

  • Assess our asset management maturity, identify key risks, propose priorities and improvements
  • Monitor asset performance, deliver local assurance and report findings to management and Area Asset Management Board
  • Lead and support the delivery of specific portfolios such as asset management planning, asset data improvements, inspection programme delivery and contingency planning for example
  • Create opportunities to further staff development by producing guidance and organising training
  • Coordinate internal audit responses and our Area's involvement in the annual ISO 55001 audit
  • Work closely with area and national colleagues to shape future business
  • Line manage a small team of EA staff and contractors.
The role will be based at one of our offices - Nottingham, Rothley, Draycott, Gainsborough or Owston Ferry.

  • The team
  • As Senior Advisor you will be an active part of our management team, reporting to the Operations Manager. Working closely with various Area teams and National colleagues, you will provide forward thinking and strategic direction to ensure we optimise our asset management activities now and in the future.

You will drive continuous improvements to achieve our vision to have skilled teams delivering a safe, reliable and sustainable asset management service which supports climate resilient communities.


  • Experience/skills required
  • IAM Certificate or working towards
  • Proven ability to develop effective working relationships and demonstrate strong communication skills
  • Develop others to perform at their best and create an inclusive and trusting culture where everyone can be themselves
  • Capable technical leader, able to provide sound strategic decisions aligning to our local and corporate priorities
  • Ability to gather and evaluate information and datasets and report to senior management
  • Promotes continuous improvements and effective at implementing new initiatives
  • Line management experience is desirable as you will manage a small team of EA staff and contractors
  • Driving licence will be required. As an Areawide role there will some travel between offices and depots and occasional site visits where public transport links are limited.
