Objective of role:


Short Description:


  • To assist the Financial Controller to maintain all the financial systems and manage the
day-to-day accounting entries for TheCityUK.

  • To assist the Financial Controller to maintain all the financial systems and manage the
day-to-day accounting entries for the Financial Services Skills Commission.

Key Activities & Responsibilities

  • Record all accounting & Payroll transactions for the company
  • Record sales transactions, produce invoices on Sage Line50 and process.
  • Record purchase ledger invoices and expenses on SAGE.
  • Petty cash.
  • Generate payments for authorisation.
  • Assist in generating draft management accounts: accurately record and assist creating and maintaining P&L and Balance Sheet.
  • Administration of Company Credit Cards.
  • Bank and Nominal Ledger Reconciliations.
  • Generate & record Sales Invoices.

Produce and update financial forecasts for the company

  • Produce revenue and expense forecasts for the current financial year.
  • Incorporate these forecasts into the draft management accounts.
  • Assist in drafting future year's budget and analyse for the organisation.
  • Work with MIT to produce sales forecasts, debtor's collection forecasts and incorporate in the above.

  • Assist in preparing files for external auditors.

Training Provided:

BPP apprenticeship training programmes are delivered virtually by our fully qualified and industry-experienced training team.

Using their expert knowledge, we've purposefully built our programmes around the real-world use of modern technology, so that the skills we create can be directly applied in the workplace.


Throughout the apprenticeship learners receive coaching, help and guidance from a dedicated team who are there to ensure they get the most from their work experience.


Skills Required:


  • Confident in dealing with senior stakeholders.
  • Clear, Concise and effective verbal and written communication skills.
  • Excellent attention to detail.
  • Good Microsoft skills (Word, PowerPoint, Excel).
  • Willing to get involved in new tasks.
  • Willing to study towards an accounting qualification.

Personal Qualities:


  • Highly confidential, can work with discretion.
  • Ability to prioritise and maintain a calm demeanour.

Qualifications Required:

Grade C or above in at least 5 GCSEs including English and mathematics
