About us:

The UCL Institute for Global Health (IGH) is based in the Faculty of Population Health Sciences.

We conduct high-quality research and teaching in order to inform global health policy and practice and to train the next generation of research leaders.

Our research and teaching cuts across multiple disciplines.

We are seeking to appoint an enthusiastic Research Fellow to join the Centre for Clinical Research, Epidemiology, Modelling and Evaluation within UCL's Institute for Global Health.

The Centre contains a large number of statisticians and epidemiologists working on the design and analysis of studies of HIV infection.

Centre for Clinical Research, Epidemiology, Modelling and Evaluation (CREME), Institute for Global Health

The Centre is led by Professors Andrew Phillips and Caroline Sabin.

About the role:

The post-holder will be responsible for data management and statistical analysis relating to the Pharmacokinetic and clinical Observations in PeoPle over fiftY (POPPY) Study as well as analyses relating to other ongoing cohort studies within the Centre.

The post-holder may also provide statistical support to new and ongoing projects conducted through the NIHR HPRU.

The POPPY study (NCT is a longitudinal multi-centre cohort established to assess the effects of ageing on clinical outcomes of people with HIV in the United Kingdom and Ireland, which is led jointly by Professor Alan Winston (Imperial College London) and Professor Caroline Sabin (UCL).

The study recruitment and follow-up is co-ordinated at Imperial College London, with the statistical analysis centre being at UCL.

The cohort, recruited from April 2013 to January 2015, comprises 699 people with HIV aged >50 years selected from 7 clinical sites in the UK and 1 in Ireland, 374 demographically and lifestyle similar people with HIV aged 50 years.

Demographic, lifestyle, clinical and laboratory data from each POPPY study visit are captured electronically and are linked with historic longitudinal HIV data from two existing longitudinal cohorts of people with HIV (the UK Collaborative HIV Cohort (UK CHIC) study and the University College Dublin (UCD)-ID Cohort Study).

There have been a range of ongoing sub-studies within POPPY, most notably the POPPY-SLEEP study (funded by the National Institutes for Health and led by Dr Ken Kunisaki), and ongoing analyses have considered issues related to cognitive function, mental health, respiratory conditions, bone health and fracture risk, frailty, drug-drug interactions and multi-morbidity.

A job description and person specification can be accessed at the bottom of this page.

The salary for this role is within UCL Grade 6B, in the range of £36,832 - £38,466, including London Allowance.
