Do you have an interest in Geriatric Medicine? We have a wonderful opportunity to join our existing team of fourteen Consultants in our Department of Medicine for Older People and Stroke (DMOP) as a Locum Consultant with a special interest in Frailty


Our team are looking for a skillful and passionate colleague with broad Geriatric Medicine expertise and an enthusiasm for change and service development as we continue to develop the key components of our integrated system of care within frailty.


Our service is undergoing an internal reconfiguration therefore you will be offered opportunities in a variety of specialist interests, we encourage you to discuss this with our clinical lead for Frailty services.


Your role will be responsible for on-going care of elderly patients both through their acute illness and rehabilitation phase while retaining a commitment to participate in the on-call rota of the Medical Division.


As our Trust is committed to offering a much more patient focused service and is working towards making services available seven days a week and the successful applicant will be expected to participate in these services, you will be expected to integrate within the team of existing consultant staff in order to provide excellent quality care to all patients and to provide specialist cover for inpatients as well as older patients in the community.


Our DMOP services is an exciting and expanding specialty which has undergone significant change in the last few years that has Consultants with a wide variety of sub-specialty interests which we are looking to expand in order to develop and improve our frailty regional services in both acute and community domains and our frailty liaison services within the trust.


The DMOP bed base consists of:
A 24 bed ambulatory Frailty Assessment Base
Two Frailty Wards at Brentwood Community Hospital
2 base wards with a small number of medical outliers.
