Description

The post holder is expected to support the organisation in improving the level of performance accountability and assurance through the collation, monitoring and reviewing of data, information and exception reports submitted to the team on a monthly basis.

The work will include identification and dissemination of good and poor practice throughout the organisation.

The post holder will support the Head of Performance Assurance in implementing and communicating the Performance Assurance Strategy across BCUHB with an emphasis on engagement, quality improvement and support for all staff involved in reporting against National and Local measures, especially in areas where quality and performance is below expected and benchmarked levels.

The Post holder will also support the wider Performance Directorate with Benchmarking of performance against other NHS Wales and UK health services.

An aptitude and enthusiasm for utilising digital solutions (through MS 365) to support efficient work processes is an important function of this crucial role.

  • Willingness to learn new skills relating to data analysis

The Performance Team is comprised of a mix of people that are genuinely a lovely group who are supportive and professional.

The team has new roles and new faces and it's genuinely an exciting time to join the team.

There will be lots of opportunity to be involved in a breadth of performance and business intelligence related work - and to develop your knowledge, experience and skills.

We currently work mostly remotely, with office working once a week.

Data Analysis

  • To analyse organisational performance.
  • To use recognised metrics to identify areas of both good practice and under performance.
  • To identify causes and underlying trends in under performance.
  • Communicate areas of concern to Head of Performance Assurance.
  • Liaise with operational staff and Managers / Leads to both disseminate analysis and agree actions for improvement.
  • Use escalation to support improvement in circumstances where actions agreed are failing to be delivered.
  • Work with Clinical / operational teams to design improvement solutions.
  • Disseminate areas of good practice to support spread across organisation.
  • Use benchmark tools to compare organisation with best in class.
  • Contribute to the production of board level (and related) papers.
  • To complete skilled analysis of complex data sets and undertake the production of run and SPC charts.
Communication

  • To negotiate with operational staff with regards to the ownership and responsibility to carry out and see through agreed corrective actions.
  • Undertake data collection from several areas, and to convert this data into useful information for further use. Interpret and understand the data, and to communicate findings in the appropriate manner.
  • Organise focused workshops on problem areas.
  • Engage with clinical and management colleagues to gain full understanding of problem areas.
  • To work effectively within a team.
  • Use multimedia, particularly MS 365 to communicate and promote progress verbally and nonverbally.
  • Decision making ability, evidence based to support change.
