Location: De Havilland Campus, University of Hertfordshire, Hatfield
We are looking to offer an opportunity for a forward-thinking primary teacher, possessing UK Qualified Teacher Status (QTS), to join our welcoming and highly motivated team of lecturers to provide a high-quality learning experience for a diverse range of learners.
Main duties and responsibilities
The successful applicant will work collaboratively and independently within a staff team to lead, plan, organise and deliver teaching and assessment of students training to teach maths in primary schools. The successful person will work flexibly as a team member to engage with a broad range of teaching and other activities in the Schools of Law and Education, drawing on relevant expertise and professional knowledge. The person appointed will work with school partners to support and develop trainees' professional, subject and curriculum knowledge through centre (UH) and school-based training, managing their own work efficiently. Travel to schools to support and enhance the quality of school-based mentoring will be required. The successful applicant will actively engage in scholarship and/or research, supported by University and School of Education and staff.
Skills and experience required
The post holder will have proven experience of teaching in primary school(s) in the UK and/or relevant experience of working in the Initial Teacher Education sector. The successful applicant will demonstrate the appropriate breadth and depth of subject, pedagogical and professional knowledge in Primary education to be able to provide effective and innovative teaching in Primary maths. In addition, the successful applicant will need to demonstrate a proven track record of making a positive impact on pupils' learning and progress and be able to visit schools (and other settings) to observe student-teachers' practice.
Qualifications required
The post holder will have UK Qualified Teacher Status and a Postgraduate degree in a relevant field or significant experience, or an appropriate qualification at first degree.
