Oncology Specialist Nurse - Ipswich, Suffolk, United Kingdom - East Suffolk and North Essex NHS Foundation Trust

    Default job background
    Description

ESNEFT oncology clinical nurse specialist (CNS) services are developing new ways of working and are seeking a motivated and experienced CNS to join our team at Ipswich Hospital.

This is your chance to be part of service innovation and make a difference to patients on Colorectal and GI cancer pathways.

As a Lower Gastrointestinal (GI) Oncology CNS you will provide expert care and support, playing a key role in the development of a new hub model of nursing which incorporates Lower and Upper GI, Hepatobiliary and Pancreatic (HPB) & Neuro Endocrine Tumour treatment pathways.

The hub is being created to coordinate and manage the oncology care and support required for the increasing cohort of patients who have been diagnosed with a GI cancer.

Merging our services will maximise the skill mix within the team, harness the use of transferrable and core CNS skills and develop novel ways of responding to the increasingly complex treatment pathways and advanced clinical skills required within specialist GI oncology nursing.

You will work as a Colorectal CNS but there will be an expectation that generic and transferrable CNS support will be provided to all patients being case managed by the GI hub as required.

Band 6 developmental roles will be considered.

Provide specialist psychological, social and practical support that is responsive to the perceptions and needs of patients with a Colorectal malignancy and their families.

Act as a point of contact for patients receiving Chemotherapy, Immunotherapy and Supportive therapies for a colorectal malignancy.
Participate and contribute in both the local Colorectal Multi-disciplinary and Specialist multi- disciplinary (SMDT) Hepatic meeting.
Liaise with referring teams, overseeing treatment planning ensuring understanding and informed consent with regards to proposed procedures. Demonstrate specialist knowledge and skills in Colorectal Oncology and share this with other professionals to positively influence patient care.

We are ESNEFT and we provide hospital and community health services to almost one million people across east Suffolk and north Essex.

Our dedicated staff deliver care from acute hospitals in Colchester and Ipswich, community hospitals, surgeries, community clinics and in patients' own homes.

We are the largest NHS organisation in East Anglia, employing more than 12,000 staff.

We offer a wide range of training and development opportunities, as well as flexible working options.

Along with supporting you to achieve your career goals we offer a generous pension scheme, unsocial hours payments (where applicable), 27 days annual leave on commencement (pro rata) and access to a range of NHS discounts.

Our Staff Health and Wellbeing programme offer a variety of services.

This digital transformation will bring what's widely regarded as the world's best EPR system to ESNEFT, transforming life in hospital for staff and patients.
