ROLE PURPOSE:

The Sustainability & Stewardship, Fixed Income role is a dedicated resource with relevant sustainable investment expertise, specifically related to Fixed Income, including issuer specific ESG-analysis and engagement.

The role requires strong analytical and quantitative skills, with excellent written and presentation skills enabling the effective communication of Impax's leading approach in the transition to a more sustainable economy.


ROLE DIMENSIONS


The role is based within the Impax Sustainability Centre (SC) in London and reporting to Impax's Head of Sustainability & Stewardship for North America, based in Portsmouth, New Hampshire.

The role is involved in the development of new FI sustainability methodologies and the on-going core research, analysis and stewardship work in the SC, with a specific focus on Fixed Income, an area of strategic focus for Impax.


More specifically the role contributes to the development of Impax's Fixed Income Sustainability Framework, which includes six project areas, such as transition frameworks for harder to abate sectors, developing a proprietary FI ESG methodology, using quantitative research and testing, driving an enhancement of Impax's engagement efforts within Fixed Income, as well as helping develop other sustainability-related processes and frameworks for the asset class.


KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

1.Investment process - Sustainability & Stewardship

Sustainability research

  • Contribute to the development of the Impax Fixed Income sustainability framework, including:
  • Sectoral transition pathways research
  • Proprietary FI ESG methodology
  • FI engagement program and process
  • FI impact measurement methodology
  • Management, analytics of key sustainability data and metrics for investment process

ESG analysis & methodology

  • Conduct timely and quality ESG analysis (focus on FI)
  • Provide peer reviews of ESG analysis
  • Analyse companies' and issuers' transition plans
  • Contribute to the ongoing development of the ESG2 methodology
  • Contribute with ESG and stewardship insights at strategylevel Portfolio Review Meetings (PRMs)

Stewardship (engagement)

  • Research, coordinate and lead effective engagements with issuers / companies
  • Initiate and coordinate effective thematic, collaborative and systematic engagements as required
  • Represent Impax at external industry organizations' working groups related to sustainability in FI

2.Sustainability Client Advisory & Reporting
- client FI-related sustainability queries
- projects and sustainability reporting

  • Present Impax's FI sustainability capabilities to external audiences
  • Attend external sustainability events and conferences as Impax's representative

SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE, EXPERIENCE:

  • 35 years of Fixed Income sustainability and stewardship experience with leading investment firm
  • Deep interest and expertise within sustainable investment
  • Attention to detail and analytical abilities are critical
  • Quantitative and data management skills are highly desirable
  • Strong written and presentation skills
  • Ability to work effectively both independently as well as part of a global team

Desirable:


  • Quantitative and/or data management experience / qualifications
  • Sustainabilityrelated degree
