    Job summary

    We currently have an opportunity for a Band 5 Rotational Occupational Therapist to join our progressive and dynamic Occupational Therapy Department within a leading Foundation Trust teaching hospital.

    We offer rotations through a wide range of acute clinical areas which include Orthopaedics, Surgery and Oncology, Neurosciences, Major Trauma, Older Person's Care, Medical, Rheumatology, Hand Therapy and Pain and Stroke and Rehab.

    By working with us, you would be supported to develop your Occupational Therapy clinical expertise and promote the benefits of Occupational Therapy within the hospital. Therefore we are looking for applicants that are committed to providing a high quality of therapy provision and passionate about the profession.

    There will be opportunities to be involved in a wide range of service development in shaping the care we provide to our patients.

    We will provide robust supervision and there is extensive peer support across the multi disciplinary team.

    Main duties of the job

    This rotational position covers a wide and varied number of rotations including:

  • Department of Medicine for the Elderly
  • Hand Therapy
  • Medical
  • Neurosciences
  • Stroke
  • Major Trauma
  • Orthopaedics
  • Surgery
  • Oncology
  • Rheumatology and Pain
  • This post would be suitable for a new graduate and qualified Occupational Therapists looking to expand their existing knowledge and skills in a fast paced acute, NHS setting (including individuals looking to complete their return to practice).

    As part of an innovative Occupational Therapy department, you would be under the supervision of an experienced Occupational Therapist and would be provided with a comprehensive induction and on-going education and training.

    Within the role, there will be the opportunity to complete an individualised development programme, in addition to completion of annual appraisals and a personal development plan.

    You will ensure a safe, efficient and effective delivery of occupational therapy and work collaboratively with multi-disciplinary and multi-agency teams.

    This post requires relevant weekend working. Full Time, Part Time or flexible hours would be considered.

    Qualifications

    Essential

  • Occupational Therapist registered with Health and Care Professions Council
  • Degree or Diploma of Occupational Therapy
  • IELTS level 7 (for those applying internationally)
  • Desirable

  • Member of College of Occupational Therapists
  • Experience

    Essential

  • Broad range of fieldwork placements
  • Application of the occupational therapy process - for example, assessment, treatment and moving and handling
  • Experience of caseload management
  • Experience of completing moving and handling with patients
  • Desirable

  • Experience of working in an acute hospital
  • Knowledge

    Essential

  • To have a working knowledge of the Occupational Therapy process
  • Knowledge of evidence-based practice
