    This is an exciting opportunity to join the senior research leadership team at Norfolk and Norwich University Hospitals. The Associate Medical Director for Research will be critical to setting and delivering NNUH's research strategy and also engaging with and influencing other researchers on the Norwich Research Park (NRP). The post holder will be involved in developing the framework for collaboration on clinical research across the other research institutes in particular the Norwich Medical School and Quadram Institute Biosciences.

    Over the last five years there has been substantial developments of NNUH as a research institution, including a prestigious grant from the National Institute for Health and Social Care Research (NIHR) for the NIHR Norfolk Clinical Research Facility and also in delivering benefits for our patients and our staff. The post holder will support the development of the NRP Biorepository and the Quadram Institute Clinical Research Facility and also, acting at local and regional levels, contribute to influential research networks such the UEA Health and Social Care Programme and NIHR Regional Research Delivery Network. The post holder will lead the NNUH/Norwich Medical School Clinical Associate Professor programme. Main duties of the job The role involves working closely with the Director of Research Operations to ensure NNUH research is fully compliant with all research regulatory requirements and that the research we undertake delivers meaningful benefits to our patients. It is possible the post may be extended after 3 years, by mutual agreement, to ensure continuity across a critical period for development of the 'incubator' BRC. The Associate Medical Director for Research is a key role in the trust supporting, promoting, leading and developing research at the Norfolk and Norwich University Hospitals (NNUH). They will work in close partnership with the Director of Research Operations, who is responsible for central research support services and facilities across the hospital as well as contractual arrangements and regulatory compliance for research. The post-holder will support the Director of Research Operations, the Deputy Chief Nurse and the central research support teams to ensure that research support services are optimised while ensuring researchers and their teams comply with legal, regulatory and local requirements. We serve over 900,000 people across Norfolk, North Suffolk and surrounding areas for specialist services. In 2016/17 our 7,500 members of staff delivered 816,000 outpatient appointments, 90,000 day cases and 90,000 inpatient admissions from our two hospitals.
    • The Norfolk and Norwich University Hospital is located on the Norwich Research Park and serves the population of Norfolk and Norfolk Suffolk and further afield for specialist services. It opened in 2001 and is a 1,200 bed teaching hospital with state-of-the-art facilities. We provide a wide range of secondary and tertiary services, including Accident and Emergency. The trust will be commemorating 250 years of a hospital in Norwich in 2021.
    • Cromer and District Hospital is located in Cromer on the North Norfolk coast and serves the North Norfolk population. It was redeveloped in 2012 to replace the 1930s-founded hospital. We provide a wide range of consultant-led outpatient services, day case operations and a Minor Injuries Unit (MIU). The trust is commemorated 150 years of a hospital in Cromer in 2017/18.
