It's an exciting time at Green Spark Environmental as we're on a journey of rapid growth.


We specialise in bespoke pollution prevention, drainage and environmental services with blue chip, multi-site organisations, particularly contract logistics, warehousing and FM providers.

We fix, audit, report, recommend and manage works to support our client's operations and compliance.


At the heart of what we do is to develop an understanding of client requirements and deliver high service levels by knowing the sites we work on in detail.

We provide in depth reporting and advice that gives true value for the customer.

We have nationwide coverage with our central offices based in Doncaster, South Yorkshire. We are looking for a Trainee Environmental Consultant to work within our Technical team. This is an ideal position for a recent Graduate. You must have a clean driving license and be able to stay away from home at times.


To provide advice and support on environmental matters and ensure projects comply with environmental regulations and targets by addressing environmental impact.

Through your environmental expertise, you will support on commercial and technical advice and training delivery across the business. You will be involved in the scoping, planning, costing, and implementing jobs through to completion.

You will be part of the environmental services team relating to pollution risk services and auditing, drainage mapping and all waste management compliance and processes.


To deliver continual improvement in our environmental performance, support bids and tenders and assist in the development of environmental plans.

Identify and evaluate the environmental risks and opportunities.


Working as part of a small team you will build strong working relationships with clients that moves beyond core technical work and is focused on long term support and guidance.

You'll carry out client site visits for audit purposes offering advice and support as required. Attending sites following emergency incidents to inform on environmental risk and operational clean up.


Support on technical client projects on multi sites across the UK to improve environmental standards and efficiencies of client operations.

The role requires occasional travel and overnight stays.

Key Responsibilities

  • Delivering high standard technical assignments and solutions for small to medium sized projects, including desk based and field environmental services
  • Undertaking external audits at customer sites to meet determined objectives including environmental compliance, ISO 14001 compliance, waste, energy, and other environmental objectives
  • Coordination and monitoring of financial performance and metrics of customer jobs(s) under your remit, including, tendering, quoting, accurate inclusion of all ongoing costs to ensure accurate and timely invoicing is achieved
  • Functional management and delivery of waste water sampling and data capture
  • Timely attendance to environmental emergencies where required
  • Support on internal waste quieries and techincal advice on disposal of unusual waste types
  • Assisting with the internal ISO 14001 systems and ensuring operational compliance and support to operations teams
  • Ensure customers are contacted prior to the audit, in a timely manner, confirming the audit schedule and providing information on how to prepare
  • Undertake audit preparation work and planning in readiness for onsite audits
  • Training others in relevant environmental services such as spill response and waste management across the business
  • Deliver projects within the framework of risk, sustainability, health and safety and environmental considerations agreed at outset of project or job
  • To report on progress against plan, budget and functionality for all projects allocated
  • Recognise and identify nonconformities, noncompliances and positive elements as part of the auditing process
  • Create and prepare detailed accurate and grammatically correct audit reports in line with quality requirements
  • Liaison with clients for the purposes of service delivery. Providing advice to clients, and developing business through establishing relationships
  • Information gathering and data analysis
  • Crossdepartmental working to support client objectives and meeting of environmental standards
  • Supporting senior team members with project management duties
Lead and promote adherence to all company standards including health and safety, quality and environmental management systems

Essential Skills

  • Educated to degree or diploma level in an environmental discipline
  • Understanding management systems including ISO 1400
  • Holding or working towards membership of a professional organisation, such as IEMA
  • Ability to multitask and manage projects simultaneously
  • A high level of organisation and professionalism
  • Selfmotivated and selfdirected. Ability to handle responsibility and manage own workload to deliver to target
  • Excellent verbal and written
