As a patient support worker your role will be to offer a range of support services to the patients and to support the clinical staff in the delivery of essential support activities, which will help to ensure the smooth and efficient running of the inpatient ward.

The post holder will work within the inpatient ward at TCPC


Hours and Shifts: 37.5 hours/ week. Monday - Friday, flexibility may be required to cover occasional evening and weekend work)

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Assist in maintaining clean and tidy patient rooms
  • Daily stock and top up of equipment needed by medical staff
  • Replenishment of gloves/aprons outside patient rooms and clinical areas
  • Complete room check post discharge
  • Clean clinical equipment as required and maintain cleaning log
  • Ensure rooms are cleaned by housekeeping in a timely manner
  • Ensure room is ready for next patient admission
  • Be responsible for ensuring all patient rooms are locked post room check
  • Responding to call bells and requests
  • Answering telephone calls in the reception area and at the Nursing station when relevant staff are unavailable
  • Deliveries to other departments as required within HCA, labs and the Trust campus
  • Assist in ensuring all clinical areas are kept clean, tidy and free from obstacles
  • Report to help desk any maintenance issues and follow up to ensure that works have been completed

Skills and Experience

  • Previous experience in a similar role within healthcare is essential
  • Computer literate
  • Excellent communication skills
