    The role
    As a Commissioning Engineer – Electrical, you'll have a role that's out of the ordinary. You do not need to be working as a Commissioning Engineer to apply for this position and we are willing to help train you up within the role as long as you have an electrical background with knowledge of ship electrical systems/equipment being highly desirable. You'll be commissioning emergent and future technologies on one of the country's warships. There will also be opportunities to influence design, build and commissioning activities, across programmes.

    The Commissioning Group Warships is the test section tasked with delivering vessel to the Royal Navy having been proven to operate at or beyond the designed specification.

    Day-to-day, your work will involve inspection and testing of ships electrical equipment. The work will mainly be on Royal Navy Warships but will also support on occasion landing craft.

  • Carry out inspections, testing and diagnostics on HM Warships Marine Systems
  • Liaise with both Royal Navy and Project staff daily
  • Inspect and test the ship's electrical equipment
  • Write test documentation when required

    • This role is full time, 35 hours per week is based on site at Devonport Royal Dockyard.

    Experience of the Commissioning Engineer – Electrical

  • Knowledge of ship electrical systems/equipment - desirable
  • Experience of commissioning process - desirable
  • Knowledge of inspection and resting methods and test form process - desirable
  • Knowledge of landing craft - desirable
  • Computer literate, particularly Microsoft Word

    • Qualifications for the Commissioning Engineer – Electrical

  • Time served Apprenticeship in Electrical Engineering or equivalent experience
  • ONC or Equivalent in an Electrical Engineering discipline, a lower level of qualification may be acceptable provided the post holder has substantial and relevant experience.
  • Successful applicants will need to satisfy MoD security requirements

    • Security Clearance
    The successful candidate must be able to achieve and maintain Security Check (SC) security clearance for this role.
