    Our Transactions Tax specialists provide a variety of services, such a tax due diligence reviews (buy-side and sell-side), advice relating to private equity and similar structures, vendor assistance, and management tax planning.

    As a result of consistent growth across the transactions tax team, increased client demand and high-profile M&A Tax appointments, we are looking to make an addition to at the level of Manager or Associate Director in the indirect tax part of the transactions team.

    Our team works on a national basis, and so the base office of the successful individual can be flexible.

    You will work closely with a transactions VAT Director and be a crucial member of the team, ensuring the successful delivery of interesting, challenging and high-quality transactions tax technical projects.

    This is a fantastic opportunity to join a growing team at an exciting part of the journey, working on a hybrid basis and reaping the rewards of being at home and in the office on a weekly basis.

    The variety of projects will challenge you every day, helping you expand your capabilities and grow professionally.

    Completing indirect tax due diligence projects identifying VAT risks and making commercial and practical recommendations to our clients, which may be sellers or buyers of businesses.

    Delivering tax structuring advice before and after transactions to provide VAT efficient solutions for clients.
    Developing the more junior team, including delegation of appropriate work, on-the-job coaching and more formal feedback.

    Working alongside the transactions VAT Director to actively assist in business development including proposal preparation for new work and building relationships with clients and targets.

    Proven experience in client handling and building good relationships.
    Business development experience and/or interest in this aspect is advantageous but not essential.

    I didn't know it at the time but my life in tax started when I passed the civil service entrance exam.

    I merrily thought I would have a choice of the Foreign Office, the MOD or the Home Office only to be told I was joining HMRC and my options were VAT or Excise neither of which I had heard of at the time.

    From that uncertain start came a love of this tax; the balance between inputs and outputs, how it directly relates to business transactions and its myriad of case law.

    I found that I loved talking to the tax people that shared my passion and the business leaders that didn't but needed someone to help them understand the impact on their commercial transactions.

    It is a true privilege to lead and help grow my service line and to nurture people who joined us at the start of their careers, helping them grow and find their own path both professionally and personally.

    Some of my best moments have been conversations with team members telling them they have been successful in achieving the next step in their career progression journey.

    n the next few years, the administration of tax and our tax business will change significantly due to the increased use of technology and automation by us, our clients and by tax authorities around the world.
