Description

We are looking to recruit an enthusiastic and motivated Tray Room assistant in our CTC Theatres located on the Basildon site with a sterile store area that feeds most of the requirements of the department however the Cardiothoracic Theatres have a centralised Sterile Services Department located at Broomfield Hospital.


We are a friendly, dynamic and busy department where your role will involve the provision of sterile store service aided by the effective sterile tray stacking system, including monitoring the return of used sets to and the supply of sterile sets from SSD (Sterile Service Department) so that the projected requirement of theatres is met and maintaining equipment inventory for CTC theatres, and work with external sources to ensure repairs and refurbishment of instruments is carried out.


You will need to be aware of current equipment available for use within all areas ensuring they are within their dates, ensuring that an effective and efficient stores service is delivered and an accurate inventory system is maintained, this includes cleaning and checking for out of dates on all trays and responding effectively and efficiently to use instrument / equipment requests (both consignment and purchased).


Your role is to report on excessive demands for instrument sets (both consignment and purchased) that can put unnecessary financial pressure on the system, maintain a system for the loan of instruments including implants, effectively communicate with staff and other departments (purchasing, finance and SSD) regarding the sterile store, ensure work practices and environmental factors present a minimum Health & Safety risk and liaise with key staff in each of the user departments regarding instrument set availability.
