    An Engineering Manager owns the predictable, ongoing delivery and operation of a high quality product. They are the go-to person for all aspects of product delivery (e.g. engineering, testing, sequencing of work), both within and outside the team. the Engineering Manager's focus is "How will we build it right?.

    Team health:
    supported by their management and HR, they prepare team members for career progression, ensure a healthy balance of learning and doing, and ensure the processes within the team support excellence in delivery


    System fitness:
    in consultation with other experienced engineers, they drive and refine the product architecture in response to new requirements, emerging risks, and changing company priorities


    Predictable delivery:
    in collaboration with the Product Manager (and especially during Discovery) they negotiate the ongoing balance between quality, risk, and value to establish a predictable timeline


    Setting the standard:

    the Engineering Manager provides a positive example to the team regarding quality of work outputs, enthusiastic engagement with their work, commitment to continual improvement, and data-driven decision making.

    The ability to get the most out of people, in the short and long term.
    Tertiary qualifications in software engineering/computer science, or equivalent professional experience.
