Description

An entry level position thatensures safe and efficient traffic movement and monitors roadwaysincluding detecting confirming updating and responding to scheduledand unscheduled traffic incidents congestion and travel timeimbalances.

The initialcontract is subject to extension upon goodperformance.

Twoemployees needed for second shift:
2ndShift (1 employee): (Tues) 1:30pm 10:30pm (Wed Fri) 1:00pm 10:30pm

Tasks include:

Entry level operator position performing functions withsupervision and to established procedures.
To perform allduties and may defer the most complex issues to asupervisor.
To operate various computerbased trafficmanagement systems to manage traffic and incidents on roadways andimprove traffic conditions.
To monitor roadways via CCTVsurveillance cameras and detection systems.
To monitorall traffic devices and computer equipment associated with thesystem.
To maintain knowledge on the operation of alltraffic equipment computers and software associated with thetraffic systems.
To utilize traffic equipment forincident management and the improvement of travel time safety andquality of life of the traveling motorists and tollcustomers.
To continually checks the accuracy andvalidity of the messages displayed on all DMS and 511.
Tobe aware of all 511 messages broadcasted on a particularsystem.
To enter incident information into computersystems using traffic software.
To become familiar withthe roadways and understands the purpose and location of eachtraffic device (i.e. detector stations CCTV and 511).
Toalert operator staff to new and existing memos.
To useSOG to detect dispatch monitor and document roadwayincidents.
To confer with partners (highway patrolService Patrols Local Law Enforcement Fire Rescue etc.) as well asadjacent Traffic Management Centers or other DOT Regions tocoordinate resources for incidents that may affect regionaltravel.
To dispatch Service Patrols and assists ServicePatrols with other tasks such as phone calls etc.
Toperform other duties as assigned.
