Sense International has a fantastic opportunity for someone to join our Finance team as our Business Partner.

This is a full-time position working 37.5 hours per week, working flexibly between home and our office in Kings Cross, London.

This role will lead on management of Sense International's finances, including providing high quality management information to Sense International in both the UK and internationally.

Sense International (SI) works directly and through partner organisations in the eight countries to realise the rights of people with deafblindness.

Separate business units on SUN accounts are used alongside a business unit for the UK transactions. Key responsibilities
To carry out monthly processes including preparing and importing journals and the running and distribution of monthly reports.

In particular coding the UK cashbook, posting transaction listings from overseas teams that do not maintain their own accounts on SUN, running management accounts, cost centre reports and other reports, and distributing these once approved by the Business Partner.

To maintain relationships with internal customers (principally Programme and Fundraising staff in the UK and Directors of SI teams in the countries where we work) and finance colleagues, including finance colleagues in Sense International teams around the world.

Reviewing cash transfer requests from overseas teams, making comments to the Programme Managers and the Management Accountant and once approved and effected, post journals to reflect the transfers.

To assist the Business Partner with the reporting process for Sense International grants and contracts.
Discuss and explain Management Accounts for each business unit with Directors and Programme Managers.

Identify, investigate and report on monthly variances, liaising with financial staff, such as in-country Finance and Administration Managers / Officers and non-finance managers such as Directors of SI offices or UK Programme Managers as appropriate.

Draft annual statutory accounts for SI and liaise with external auditors as required.


Key skills and experience required:
CCAB/CIMA qualified or nearing completion of qualification and recent relevant work experience
Produce monthly or quarterly management accounts for five business units (outside East Africa) based on transaction listings supplied.
Review monthly management accounts produced by Finance and Admin Managers in three business units (Kenya, Uganda and Tanzania).
Proven experience working as a Management Accountant, explaining financial concepts to non-finance colleagues.
Good knowledge of writing reports to extract information from large multi-site accounting databases.
Good understanding of charity statutory account requirements (SORP)
