As part of our Conservation Masterplan, we aim to train 5,000 conservationists over the next 10 years and we have started this journey with the new Conservation Training Academy, launched in 2020.
The Role
We have an exciting role with the Science Department, this a key role working as part of our specialist team taking responsibility for providing comprehensive support to the Conservation Training Academy and Science Department.
This is a diverse job role when one minute you could be out in the zoo with visiting professionals and the next taking bookings for courses.
As a Research and Training Administrator you will:
- Provide effective and efficient administration for the Conservation Training Academy to staff and students.
- Provide effective and efficient administration for research at Chester Zoo to staff and students, which will contribute towards maximising conservation impact and building and maintaining our reputation for scientific excellence.
- Collate and input Key Performance Indicator data for research to ensure effective reporting and monitoring of wider Chester Zoo strategies.
- Provide general administration across the Science department to enable effective science delivery.
Our Requirements:
- 'A' Level qualifications or above preferable
- A good working understanding of modern zoos and their role in conservation.
- High degree of numeracy & literacy
- Sound working knowledge of computer software systems eg Microsoft Office Suite, specifically experience using Microsoft Excel.
- Experience of working in a busy office environment as part of a team and using own initiative
- Strong organisational skills, including excellent time management, administration and planning skills, including collation of data for reports and dealing with personal data.
- Be an enthusiastic and motivated team player
Although not essential, the following would be desirable:
- A working understanding of higher education structures, processes and procedures.
- Prior knowledge of conservation and zoology would be advantageous, this is likely be demonstrated by a Zoology or Biological Science degree and/or experience of working within a zoo, conservation organisation or similar environment is desirable.
The Package
- Temporary contract until 31st December 202
- Part-Time worked mainly between Wednesday
- Friday.
- 28 hours per week with some flexibility in working hours/days
