Powerplus Group is a National and European Contractor specialising in design and installation of Mechanical & Electrical, Lighting and Renewable Technologies.


As part of our continued growth and further expansion plans, we are seeking an Accounts Assistant to support in our Finance Team.


About you

  • Prior experience in the construction industry and experience of CIS would be an advantage.
  • Interest and knowledge of current software packages (i.e., Windows 10, Microsoft Office, Acrobat, etc.) and have the adaptability to learn new software packages progressively.
  • Knowledge of Xero accounting package and Simpro software an advantage but not essential as training will be provided
  • Excellent attention to detail and accuracy in all that you do.
  • You will need to possess good verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work on your own workload or collaborate constructively with others on a project.
  • Is a selfstarter and be able to pull on the resources around you to build knowledge of processes in/outside the PPG Team.
  • Have an excellent telephone manner and be able to converse easily with others.

Job Purpose


We seek a competent and experienced Accounts Assistant with a self-motivated mindset, to work within our Head Office in Bingham, Nottingham.


In this role you will be a key player in supporting the delivery of our ambitious growth plans at Powerplus Group, working closely alongside the rest of the team to execute crucial tasks.


This role provides a great opportunity to build experience within key areas of the financial part of the company and will offer the chance to be a key player in the refinement of our company processes and systems.

There is also the potential for advancement within the role and as we grow as a business.


Key responsibilities
You will report to the Finance Manager and will be responsible for the day-to-day bookkeeping and administrative tasks for PPG;

  • Processing work orders, supplier invoices, purchase orders, expenses claims, account payments, and timesheets.
  • Managing accounts, using Simpro and Xero accounting software
  • Working with HMRC with regards to Construction Industry Scheme, wages, and tax submissions
  • Maintaining a digital record of all financial transactions, documents, and supplier information.
  • Coordinating daily financial tasks with the Finance Manager to optimise workflow.
  • Prepare the paperwork for all financial transactions ready for the Finance Manager to submit for approval and payment.
  • Prepare purchase orders and invoices to be approved and sent to suppliers.
  • Assist the Finance Manager with the posting of all financial transactions into the accounting software in an accurate, timely and transparent manner.
  • Assist and prepare regular reports using accounting software
  • Keep a strict record of any communication with contractors and suppliers regarding relevant issues that may arise
  • Schedule weekly meetings with team with updates

Key Skills required

  • A Levels or equivalent
  • Accounting: 2 years minimum
  • Construction/Property industry experience
  • Preferred experience with CIS
  • Good organisation and administrative skills, excellent attention to detail and accuracy
  • Be a team player, socially confident and interactive.
  • Highly organised
  • Willing to learn
  • Experience of using computers for a variety of tasks
  • Excellent telephone manner
  • Excellent written English
  • Permanent right to work in the UK, without Employer support.

£23,000.00-£25,000.00 per year
