Overview of project/role


To assist in the delivery of effective retail stock control across London Transport Museum (LTM) Retail, focusing on; stock replenishment, booking-in and checking-off stock deliveries and internal transfers at LTM's Covent Garden shop, the Acton Depot shop and off-site trading events, such as 'pop-up' shops, whilst ensuring Health & Safety standards are met.

The trading profit from LTM retail secures and helps fund the Museum's valuable education and heritage work.

As Retail Stock Assistant you will assist in helping to grow our sales by effectively stocking our stores and helping to reduce stock discrepancies and loss.


Key Accountabilities

  • Support the Covent Garden Shop Manager in the effective daytoday management and control of all stock and shop equipment held in the Covent Garden (CG) Shop, stock room and all other retail storage areas across the Museum.
  • Assist with the effective handling and processing of direct deliveries from suppliers, internal stock transfers, equipment deliveries to and from the Acton Depot. Ensure stock is received accurately and in good condition from external suppliers reporting any issues to the Retail Merchandising team.
  • Completion and processing of the weekly shop sundries list, and the implementation of new processes to improve stock efficiencies in CG Shop.
  • Carry out accurate inventories and weekly stock checks as requested by the Trading Team on a rolling stocktake basis,
- as well as assisting with the completion of the year end stock-take programme.

  • Complete paperwork and 'electronic point of sale' (EPOS) system updates daily, to ensure accurate and effective stock control, including goods in and the processing of damaged stock.
  • Replenish stock in the CG shop, cupboards and drawers on the shop floor ensuring space is fully utilised and assist in customer service duties when required use of till, especially during peak trading periods.
  • Become the expert user for retail stock scanners and help in the training of Visitor Service Assistants (VSA) and the wider retail team in the Museum.
  • Support the operation, set up and stock control of the Museums Acton Depot Shop and offsite events as required by the Special Projects & Off-Site Sales Manager.
  • Support the Online Shop by way of organising stock replacements from the CG shop when stock is not available at the Online shop fulfiller or Acton Depot.
  • Support Acton Depot in the logistics, operation, driving van deliveries and dispatch of special projects such as Decommissioned Originals or large container deliveries to the Acton Depot as required.

Skills, Knowledge & Experience
Knowledge

  • Knowledge of stock control and management (essential).
  • Computer literate with competency in Microsoft Excel (essential).
  • H&S awareness and safe working (essential).
  • Knowledge of operating in a warehouse environment (desirable).

Skills:


  • Level 2 in numeracy (essential).
  • Organised, methodical with good attention to detail (essential).
  • Team worker with the ability to both establish good working relationships and to support and cooperate with others (essential).
  • Clean Driving License (essential).
  • Ability to drive a 3.5 tonne vehicle (desirable).
Experience

  • Experience of working in a retail environment (preferable).
  • Demonstrable experience of operating in a warehouse environment (desirable).
