About the role:

We have a fantastic opportunity for an Account Handler to join our business Lycetts Insurance Brokers in Marlborough.


Based in our Equine liability section we will help you develop your knowledge to be able to handle liability insurance products for the Bloodstock and Sports horse establishments who are our clients.

Full training will be provided.


This role holds responsibility for the effective management of existing clients' insurance business and for the support of business development through provision of quotes and cross-referrals.

The role has authority to deal with insurers and clients as required to transact business.


Key responsibilities

  • To prepare renewal schedules and contact client prior to renewal within compliance manual timescales
  • Answer incoming new business enquiries and prepare new business quotations.
  • Negotiate alternative quotes prior to renewal dates where appropriate
  • Deal with all documentation, invoices, credit notes, etc. ensuring a smooth and troublefree renewal for the client
  • Develop business opportunities including identification of opportunities for crossreferrals.
  • Handle claims efficiently and within regulatory timescales time scales
  • Act inline with client requests and delivers beyond expectations.
  • Comply with file management, compliance procedures and FCA guidelines.
  • Foster good relations with insurance companies
  • Ensure that the Lycetts' delegated authority under agency agreements is not exceeded
  • Operate an effective credit control system and report as required.

Knowledge, skills and experience
***:

  • Previous broking experience preferably specialising in liability insurance and / or the understanding of working within an Equine yard
  • A willingness to learn and develop knowledge to progress to other Equine property related covers
  • Knowledge of wide range of commercial insurance products and companies
  • Experience in obtaining quotes and placing business
  • Good confident customer skills both written & oral
  • Good negotiating skills and the ability to build good relationships with both clients and insurers/underwriters
  • Good organisational ability
  • Sound knowledge of FCA requirements within a broking role
  • Wellpresented, hardworking, proactive team player with initiative

Advantageous Attributes:


  • Knowledge of Word/Excel
  • Experience with the OpenGI broking software
  • Insurance qualifications
