Main Purpose of the Job
The successful candidate will be line managed by the Electrical Engineering Supervisor and will work closely with the Electrical and Mechanical Services teams.
Key Relationships
The successful candidate will be part a small team of electrical engineers/technicians.
Main Activities & Responsibilities
Percentage Maintenance, defect investigation, rectification, modification and installation of electrical building services and plants in lab buildings, glasshouses, CERs and support areas, at technician level.65Technical support and assistance to other staff within the electrical and mechanical teams, and across trade boundaries to other Estates staff.10Supervision of specialist contractors and other staff on request.5Assist Section leader with management of annual maintenance contracts.5Feasibility investigations, outline design and cost-estimating of new works and alterations (including labour), and producing schedules of materials signatory.5Assisting the Section leader with development and management of Planned Preventive Maintenance (PPM), to include development of electronic PPM system. Production of site surveys, plant schedules and asset registers as required5As agreed with line manager, any other duties commensurate with the nature of the role5Person Profile
Education & Qualifications
RequirementImportanceRecognised apprenticeship in Electrical Engineering (JIB approved) or equivalent experience and training including City & Guilds 2394 and 2395 or 2391EssentialSpecialist Knowledge & Skills

NBI Partnership
The NBI Partnership provides non-scientific services to the John Innes Centre (JIC), Quadram Institute Bioscience (QIB), Earlham Institute (EI) and The Sainsbury Laboratory (TSL). All of these organisations carry out scientific research funded by the UK Government, European Union, Charitable and Industrial Sponsors. The Partnership employs around 140 staff to cater for the needs of approximately 1100 Research Staff, Students and Visiting Scientists who are all located in close proximity on the Norwich Research Park.
