- To carry out Safety Critical and non-Safety Critical tasks in accordance with your competence on the West Fleet.
- Completing maintenance exams.
- Carrying out heavy component changes.
- Completing general Depot duties.
- Carry out maintenance activities, fault finding & rectification and defect reporting
- Attending out of course failures on the main line.
- Ensuring rail vehicles are safe to be moved after work has been completed in accordance with local procedures. Carrying out 'Safety of Line' checks when required prior to the movement of rail vehicles
- Acutely aware of the required safety standards and aware of your responsibilities.
- Focused on the needs of our customers and the impact that the depot has on them.
- Able to read and decipher engineering schematic drawings.
- Ability to investigate, identify and repair mechanical and electrical faults.
- Flexible and willing to go the extra mile.
- Bought into 6S and developing new and improved ways of working.
- Prepared to work at other locations, outside of Exeter when required.
- NVQ Level 3 or Apprentice trained in an Electrical/ Mechanical discipline (ideally both given the multi skilled requirement).
- Previous experience in Rolling Stock maintenance.
- Desirable to have completed NEBOSH/ IOSH training
- Desirable to have participated in Business Improvement Training (BIT).
