    Advisory Teacher

    This is a fantastic opportunity for someone to work as part of the local authority Inclusion Service as a specialist advisory teacher to schools across Kingston and Richmond.

    The role sits within a friendly and supportive team and offers an excellent work life balance allowing staff to offer exceptional support to schools to help them to more effectively meet the needs of children and young people with special educational needs. The post holder will offer effective advice and guidance to schools about inclusion in order to facilitate systemic improvements supported by the most recent national and local guidance.

    About the role

    This role is a senior position with the EISS and sits on the Early Advice and Intervention Panel which accepts referrals from all schools across the two boroughs about individual pupils who may be struggling in their current placements.

    This is an advisory role and as such the person needs to have a wealth of knowledge and understanding about SEN, knowledge of statutory legislation (for example the Children's Act) and national policy drivers that will affect children's services and your role (this will include knowledge and understanding of EYFS through to KS4 national curriculums).

    You will work closely with the Head and Deputy Head of Service and other specialist staff to provide high quality, responsive and bespoke advice.

    About you

    We are looking for an outstanding practitioner who has experience working in a senior role in school. You may have worked as a leader in a specialist school or specialist resource provision and/or have the SENCO qualification.

  • Excellent knowledge and understanding of SEN and SEMH and the associated challenges this may bring within a mainstream school environment.
  • Ability to work in a collaborative and supportive manner with stakeholders from schools and other services, and build strong, enduring relationships.
  • A motivated person who is a self starter with the ability to work independently managing a busy and diverse diary.
  • The ability to offer innovative and creative ideas to best support the children who are referred to the service.
