    Job summary

    We are looking for a forward thinking and dynamic Highly Specialist Physiotherapist to lead the Acute Respiratory physiotherapy service for Nottingham Children's Hospital, part of Nottingham University Hospitals NHS Trust.

    This is a full time ( hours) permanent opportunity

    The role requires you to lead on the clinical service provision to paediatric critical care and acute respiratory services within the Children's will carry a mixed respiratory outpatient caseload and provide cover for general respiratory clinics in conjunction with the other respiratory band 7/8s.

    You will also be responsible for management of the paediatric out of hours rota.

    You will be required to work flexibly across 7 days to meet the needs of Therapy Services, which will include rostered duties on the emergency on-call rota and weekend working rota.

    Providing expert respiratory physiotherapy services to paediatric critical care and the paediatric wards.

    Leading service development within the paediatric acute respiratory physiotherapy team.

    Working with the MDT to coordinate therapy input to paediatric critical care.

    Producing timely rotas for the paediatric out of hours service.

    Leading on training for new starters and ongoing competency assessment for all members of the paediatric out of hours rota.

    Working with the paediatric physiotherapy team lead and wider band 7 group to ensure high standards of care are maintained within the department

    The post has a requirement that you manage and support Band 6's, Band 5's, Support Staff and Students on Clinical Placement allowing you to develop your leadership, managerial and teaching skills.

    The Nottingham Children's Hospital (NCH) is based at the Queens Medical Centre campus and is part of Nottingham University Hospitals NHS Trust (NUH). We provide In-patient and out-patient care for children up to the age of 19 years old.

    With 97 beds, we care for around 40,000 children each year from Nottinghamshire and beyond, treating a full range of conditions, including planned and emergency treatment and surgery, Burns and Plastics, Neurological conditions, Oncology, Paediatric critical care, Renal conditions and transplantation, and Spinal and Orthopaedic care.

    The Children's Therapy team at NCH is a friendly and supportive department who work closely alongside the wider MDT, providing excellent evidence based care and innovative ways of working.

    Throughout NUH we have a diverse range of AHP and support staff who work together to deliver the high quality care we aspire to supported by our Chief AHP to lead us on our strategic direction.

    In summary you will provide an effective highly specialist Physiotherapy service to the Acute Paediatric Respiratory team including assessment and advice/treatment

    You will be an expert clinical advisor and leader within the Physiotherapy Acute Paediatric Respiratory team within therapy services at NUH. This will include providing education and training, liaising across the specialty teams, with Therapy colleagues and with the wider multi-disciplinary team.

  • Able to make decisions about the treatment needs of highly complex patients

  • Diploma or degree in relevant qualification
