COMMINUTY PARTICIPATION OFFICER

GRADE 3 - £22,503 pro rata


We are a local charity with housing related services across Lincoln and Gainsborough supporting vulnerable young people and adults to change lives, building stronger communities, and generating independence.


As a Community Participation Officer, you will work with local people living within the South West Ward of Gainsborough providing advice and guidance to low-income households and involving individuals in local participation and decision making for their community.

The work will raise individual's confidence, skills and wellbeing as well as raising the profile of the area and reducing deprivation.

Some of your duties will include:

  • Consulting with local people to understand their concerns and how they can be supported to reduce their issues
  • Set up a Community Participation Group made up of local residents
  • Create opportunities for volunteering in the local community to include maintaining and improving the streets and green spaces where they live
  • Act as the link between communities and a range of other local authority and voluntary sector providers, such as the Voluntary Centre Services, police, Job Centre and council services
  • Upskill local people through access to online learning, employment support and banking
  • Open up the Hub so that local people can walk in to gain quality advice and guidance on a range of issues including housing, benefits, crime, and antisocial behaviour.
  • Organise and arrange workshops and surgeries run by partner agencies
  • Provide basic advice and signpost to specialist services where required
Applicants must be self-motivated, reliable, and dedicated to our aims and ethos.

A full driving licence, business insurance and access to a vehicle is desirable but not essential.

An enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) disclosure will be required for this position.


In accordance with Part 7 of the immigration Act 2016 (Fluency Duty), the ability to converse at ease with customers and provide advice in accurate spoken English is essential for the post.
