We have an exception role for you, in the position of
Group Head of Patient Access


Reporting to the Patient Access Director, you will be responsible for the effective leadership, direction, evaluation and administration of the Patient Access Departments/Managers across all HCA UK Hospitals.

The Patient Access Dept. incorporates Outpatients, Pre-Admissions, Admissions, Self Pay, Insured, Non-Insured and Embassy, Cash Collections & Banking.


You will lead, direct, manage and develop all operational activities within the Patient Administration function in order to achieve an efficient regulated admissions and In-house back office finance function.

Whilst providing a first-class level of service to all customers/patients of the Hospital in addition to internal stakeholders in line with audit requirements.

Ensuring compliance to policy and process whilst championing best practice.


This role has a very high level of visibility across the HCA leadership team as it will involve a significant amount of business partnering with the senior operational and finance leaders within HCA healthcare UK.


To be successful in the role, you will need to build strong relationships with Revenue Operational leaders and be able to identify critical insight and analysis on an ad-hoc basis that leads to actionable business outcomes, outside of the task orientated accountabilities.

Ideally you will be working within patient access and private healthcare.


The Impact you will have:


  • Streamline Patient Access processes across HCA UK Group, ensuring that all Revenue Cycle processes are captured, fit for purpose and aligned to US Operations. Leading the design and implementation of policy and process ensuring a standardized approach to all activities under Patient Access. Creating a culture of continuous improvement and best practice
  • Day to day management of HCA Front Office Admissions Managers & teams across all HCA hospitals
  • Leading the operational activities to ensure adequate risk mitigations in place for a seamless Patient Journey i.e. LOG/Insurer Auth. Ensuring strong control and check points within all facilities to allow for successful collection and banking of all treatments/accounts
  • Lead the Shared Services Client Operations Support Services across group for GP & Corporate clients ensuring the Patient Access Pathways are streamlined to meet client demands
  • Complete Internal Audit Checklist and supporting documentation. To include daily, weekly, monthly tasks.
  • Produce operational reporting on a weekly / monthly basis
  • Regular review with Patient Access teams to understand bottlenecks, roadblocks and timelines towards resolution of key Revenue metrics

Ideally, we are looking for someone who has;

  • Degree level education or equivalent experience with 68 years of experience working Front Office Hospital/healthcare industry
  • A proven effective leader with exceptional communication skills both written and verbal
  • Ability to influence stakeholders
  • Good IT skills (Excel, Word, Microsoft office) Ability to gain a detailed knowledge of Meditech/ERP
  • Accuracy and attention to detail
  • Ability to work to deadlines
  • Strong collaborator with a sense of ownership & accountability
  • Managerial and motivational ability
