Owned by the Italian Frandino Group and originally founded in the 1950s as a fruit distillery, Sedamylhas grown to become one of Europe's leading manufacturers of wheat derivatives such as starches, sweeteners, proteins and alcohol for major food and industrial sectors worldwide.

In 2012 the group expanded its international presence by opening a plant in Selby, UK.

What We Do

Sedamyl UK, uses Yorkshire-grown wheat in its production, which is purchased from a network in excess of 1,000 local farmers, so providing a valuable and sustained revenue stream.

The announcement in 2021 to invest a further £80m in expanding both its distilling and liquid sweetener production, significantly boosts an already growing workforce to around 150 employees, creating in excess of 75 new jobs for the area.

What we are looking for

We are looking for an experience Logistics Operative to join our growing logistics department to ensure all aspects of the day-to-day site logístical requirements are met.

This will involve loading/unloading of both incoming and outgoing deliveries, movement of materials around site, stock taking, decanting and batching of products, taking product samples for testing and completing all relevant documentation and associated paperwork.

Responsibilities include

Typical duties include but are not limited to:

Unloading/loading of materials/products using Forklift truck (reach/counterbalance) and telehandler
Unloading/loading of tankers with either powder or liquid products including ADR products
Liaise with drivers to ensure loading schedule is achieved
Retrieve samples of incoming materials and outgoing product for testing
Ensure all paperwork and documentation is accurately recorded and completed
Work closely with production department on all matters relating to process control and product quality assurance
Movement of materials/goods around site and offsite storage areas
Decanting and batching of products as per requirements
Assisting with stock taking
Performing duties in line with regulations, health and safety guidelines and tight deadlines
Undertaking other duties as reasonably requested

Skills and Knowledge

Previous experience working in similar environment
A current (less than 3 years old) FLT qualification
Full clean UK driving licence
Ability and willingness to take ownership of assigned tasks and work without continuous supervision
Experience of working in a fastpaced environment with tight deadlines
Excellent communicator with good numeracy and literacy skills
Basic IT skills, with the ability to input data into Microsoft Office products
Chemical handling awareness (preferred)
ISO systems awareness would be advantageous
